The aim of this contest, which lasted full eight weeks, was to encourage the young to share their photos showing what for them represents the highest positive values and to engage their friends to vote for them. Almost 600 competitors presented their photos on the Facebook page “Choose words, stop hate speech” and tried to get as many likes as possible for their photos. In that way, positive sides of the social networks have been promoted, as well as responsible behaviour on the Internet.
Over 340 photos, which met the contest criteria, were posted. Those with the greatest number of likes were short listed and the winners were selected by a jury consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Development of the Republic of Serbia, UNICEF and Telenor Foundation.
The Facebook competition “How to be cool on the net” is a part of a comprehensive project “Stop digital bullying”, which is being conducted all over Serbia since 2012 by Telenor Foundation, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Development and UNICEF with the objective of stimulating the young and children to promote and spread positive messages on the Internet and use its benefits in a safe way.
