Wikipedia knowledge for all Telenor customers

To all its customers Telenor has provided free mobile internet for the use of Wikipedia, the largest online encyclopedia in the world. In that way, over three million people all over Serbia will have absolutely free access to the largest online knowledge base, via their mobile phones. 

“Wikipedia is one of the largest open web-platforms and we are pleased that the company, such as Telenor, together with us, is exerting efforts for enable Internet for all. The mission of Wikimedia Foundation is for all people to have equal access to knowledge and education, exclusively in a non-profit way, so that this is yet another good way to use and develop the largest online encyclopedia”, says Filip Maljković, President of Wikimedia Serbia.
 
Telenor has mobile Internet of high speeds, good quality network and devices with which Wikipedia can be used. Internet for the use of Wikipedia is activated free of charge on the portal or application “My Telenor” for prepaid and postpaid customers, or by clicking on the banner on the Wikipedia mobile site that leads to the portal My Telenor. Business customers, who have mobile internet included, can activate the Wikipedia add-on over the SMS and USSD channel, as well as over the “Business portal”.
 
Wikipedia is among the ten most popular sites in the world, with a total of 35 million articles in 288 different languages. In 2012, the project “Wikipedia Zero” was launched, whose aim is to provide free internet for access to Wikipedia over mobile phones.
 
Telenor is enabling people all over Serbia of all the benefits of modern communication in their daily lives. Apart from cooperation with Wikipedia, Telenor has introduced a series of digital services, as integral part of Play+ packages, such as: Deezer, Capture, Newsstand, My Contacts, Social networks and Sports Live. Also, it introduced free internet for the use of Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp for prepaid customers.
