Through spectrum auction Telenor invests seven million euros in the introduction of 4G network in Serbia
Telenor has won two blocks in the 1800 Mhz frequency band at the tender for individual licence for the usage of radio frequencies. In this way, the legal prerequisites have been fulfilled for Telenor to introduce 4G in Serbia, expected at the beginning of May.
Telenor has committed to pay seven million euros for two blocks, while the company has already reimbursed the deposit of RSD 1,3 million for the participation at the tender organized by RATEL, official regulatory body in Serbia.
“This investment will enable us to introduce 4G by the beginning of May 2015. Fast mobile internet enables access to the latest services for our customers. Our participation at the spectrum auction proves our long term commitment in developing the telecommunication market. We will continue to work on creating better opportunities for everyone, providing the highest network quality and digitalizing Serbian society”, says Ove Fredheim, CEO of Telenor Serbia.
The introduction of 4G will go gradually. First, it will be spread in urban and, later, in rural areas as well, depending on the needs of Telenor customers.
