Telenor’s Support To Decentralisation Of Cultural Life In Serbia - Vršac new host of Telenor collection of Serbian contemporary art

February 12, 2009 - Following the exhibitions in Belgrade and Novi Sad, Vršac is the host of Telenor collection of the Serbian contemporary art, on February 12-25. The exhibition of works of art from this collection, representing a reliable review of the recent Serbian art, with more than 160 artworks of 55 domestic authors, has been opened by Stevica Nazarčić, the President of the Municipal Assembly of Vršac.

The collection represents the first continuous investment of a company into the Serbian contemporary art. “We are very proud of our collection. By supporting domestic artists from the whole of Serbia, we strive to encourage authors to continue working and advancing in our country,” says Goran Vasić, the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer in Telenor in Serbia.

By presenting this collection outside Belgrade, Telenor wishes to contribute to the decentralisation of cultural life in Serbia. After Vršac, the collection will be presented in Niš, Čačak, and Zaječar. The premiere exhibition in the “Cvijeta Zuzorić” Art Pavilion in Belgrade was visited by 15,000 citizens.
Telenor collection of the Serbian contemporary art, comprising paintings, sculptures, space installations, and photographs made by renowned, as well as young less-known artists, was established in cooperation between the Telenor Foundation and the Remont Independent Art Association. For the exhibition purposes, it was relocated from the office premises in the management building of Telenor at New Belgrade, where it is continuously exhibited, first to the “Cvijeta Zuzorić” Art Pavilion in Belgrade, then to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, and now to the Cultural centre of Vršac.

All exhibition visitors who are Telenor subscribers are able to download data on the collection via Bluetooth. By sending a text message with the text DELO (and the number of a work of art from the legend) to 6363, subscribers will obtain all the details on the artists and the works of art. The collection will also be available at Telenor WAP portal (, as well as a virtual gallery at the corporate Website (
