Telenor Internet parks in Belgrade again

Internet Park in Miljakovac Opened and Telenor plans to open five more parks in the capital in June
June 09, 2010 – A park near the Heating Plant in Miljakovac is the first park in 2010 in Belgrade to obtain the free-of-charge Internet, owing to cooperation between the City and Telenor company. During the month of June, five more Internet parks will be opened in the capital.

The park in Miljakovac was opened by Belgrade Deputy Mayor Aleksandar Šapić and Telenor CFO Gabor Kočiš.

- Since last year, the free Internet is available to visitors of parks near the Vuk’s Monument, the Skate Park, a park at Topličin venac, and a park in Studentski grad. In cooperation with Telenor, we are now continuing with the introduction of free Internet for a two-year period in parks on the territories of other municipalities. The park in Miljakovac is the first park in succession in which the Internet will be available to residents of this part of the city, as well as foreign tourists visiting the capital, explains Belgrade Deputy Mayor Aleksandar Šapić.

- Telenor company is always looking for new ways to support the local community, since social responsibility forms integral part of our corporate culture. As a leader in telecommunications, and one of leading providers of broadband Internet in Serbia, our desire is to provide quality and fast Internet connection to as many people as possible, and thus contribute to development of IT literacy. We are continuing our cooperation with the City we started last year, aiming to provide free Internet to as many citizens as possible, added Gabor Kočiš.

In June 2008, the Student Park in Belgrade became the first Internet park in Serbian history. Ever since then, Telenor has enabled free Telenor Internet in 15 parks throughout Serbia.

Telenor has prepared conceptual solutions for every single Internet park, set up the needed equipment, and will be in charge of its maintenance.
