Telenor gets another Internet park - Free Internet near faculties and student dorm

June 03, 2009 – Park located near Vuk’s monument is the first Belgrade park that got the free Telenor Internet this year. Citizens will be able to use the Telenor Internet for free in the next two years.

The park was officially opened by Belgrade Mayor Dragan Đilas and Telenor CEO Kjell-Morten Johnsen.

Owing to the co-operation between Telenor and the City of Belgrade, the free Internet will be available in several Belgrade parks. Throughout this year, more such parks with free Internet access will be opened in Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Niš, Čačak and Novi Sad.

Last June, Serbia got its first Internet Park ever, when Telenor’s signal in the Studentski park provided fast Internet access in open public space. After Belgrade, citizens of Novi Sad, Niš, Kraljevo and Kragujevac also got the Internet parks.  Telenor’s 3G signal, which enables the fast Internet, now reaches almost 45 percent ofthe population of Serbia in more than 200 cities and towns countrywide.

“For years now, the Internet availability and literacy have been among the parameters defining a developed society. We want to believe that with projects like this one Telenor Serbia contributes to Serbia’s fast joining of the family of developed countries,“ says Johnsen.

Telenor has provided the equipment for all the parks and will take care of its maintenance, while the The City of Belgradewill arrange for lights and security in the parks. The Internet in parks is also a valuable addition to the touristic offer of the city.
