The Prof. Dr Ilija Stojanović Award was established last year by the Telenor Foundation, honouring our most prominent expert in the area of telecommunications. This year, awards have been granted by Oystein Mikkelsen, the Chief Technical Officer of Telenor.
The “Professor Dr Ilija Stojanović” Award is granted to most successful students, young scientists and researchers for their contribution in the area of telecommunications. In accordance with its values, the Telenor Foundation has established this award to provide young generations with support and help them continue on a road to scientific and creative work, following the example of Professor Stojanović.
Professor Dr Ilija Stojanović, a member of the Academy of Science and Arts, was the author of modern telecommunications, both from theoretical and practical aspect, in the former SFRY and present Serbia. He was the founder of the Telecommunications Department at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, where he launched his career, and was a professor to nearly all generations of today’s experienced telecommunications engineers who are the leaders in the sector.
Since the launch of its operations in Serbia, Telenor has been strongly supported by professor Stojanović, who has invested his knowledge and experience into the development of the company and its values. Although long retired, he spent his last working day in Telenor, and therefore this award has a special value both for young people who it is established for and all the employees of Telenor.
