Telenor donates RSD 20 million for assistance to flood victims
19 May 2014 - Telenor Serbia and Telenor Group have donated RSD 10 million each to the account of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for assistance to flood victims.
“We have been a committed partner to the local community for eight years already, and it is our civil duty to do all in our power to help. In situations where people are being rescued, our priority is that the network is stable, as it is critical for communication with people in affected areas. We have a long road of recovery before us, and financial assistance is only one of the steps in providing support to those in need. We thank Telenor Group for joining us in this effort,” said Ove Fredheim, CEO of Telenor Serbia.
More than 80 per cent of the base stations in the flooded areas have been restored back to operation. All Telenor teams have been active day and night in order to secure regular functioning of the mobile network, so that it can be of service to those who now need it most.
“The welfare of people in the markets in which we operate is of the outmost importance for us in Telenor Group. This is why we promptly reacted to Telenor Serbia invitation to join their initiative and provide help,” said Kjell Morten Johnsen, Executive Vice President and Head of Telenor’s European Operations.
