Telenor Continues To Support Decentralization Of Cultural Life In Serbia - Nis hosts Telenor’s collection of Serbian contemporary art
June 02, 2009 – After Belgrade, Novi Sad, Vrsac and Cacak, Niš is to host Telenor’s collection of contemporary Serbian art, which will be exhibited in the gallery “Srbija“ until June 23. The exhibition, which represents overview of Serbian contemporary art, with more than 160 pieces and 55 domestic artists, was opened by Milos Simonovic, the Mayor of Niš, and Kjell-Morten Johnsen, CEO of Telenor.
“Telenor’s collection has been formed with the idea of encouraging cultural creativity and providing support to artists in Serbia. The collection, which was exhibited for the first time in Belgrade last year, showed that working space can be transformed into exhibition space, by introducing art pieces. The collection represents one more contribution of our Company to the art scene of Serbia and, we hope, an invitation for other companies to provide help in development of the art market in this country“, says Kjell-Morten Johnsen, the Executive Director of Telenor in Serbia.
Telenor’s collection of Serbian contemporary art, which consists of paintings, sculptures, spatial installations and photographs of both famous and younger, unknown artists, was formed in co-operation of the Telenor Foundation and Independent Art Association Remont.
For the exhibition purposes, it was relocated from the office premises in the management building of Telenor at New Belgrade, where it is continuously exhibited, first to the “Cvijeta Zuzoric“ Art Pavilion located in Belgrade, then to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina in Novi Sad, Cultural Centre Vršac, “Nadezda Petrovic” gallery, and now to “Srbija“ gallery located in Niš.
By presenting the collection outside of Belgrade, Telenor wants to contribute to decentralization of cultural life in Serbia.
Visitors of the exhibition, Telenor network users, are enabled to take data on the collection over the bluetooth. After sending an SMS with the word DELO in it (together with the number of the piece from the legend) to 6363 users will receive all details on artists and their works. The collection will also be available at Telenor’s WAP portal (wap.telenor.rs/kolekcija), and in the form of a virtual gallery at the Company’s Website (www.telenor.rs/kolekcija).
