Telenor and China Mobile agree on cooperation during the Olympic Games

Telenor subscribers in Beijing now enjoy special treatment in the world’s largest mobile network
Belgrade, August 5, 2008 – All Telenor users visiting China during the Olympic Games will enjoy a special treatment in the network of the country’s and the world’s largest mobile operator, China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC).

As a result of an exclusive agreement between Telenor and the Chinese operator, Telenor users will have the support of the China Mobile’s customer service, network and service supervision and prompt and efficient solving of potential complaints regarding the network and service quality.

“This special agreement is giving our customers a high-quality service, ensuring that they can share Olympic moments with family and friends while our national heroes are competing for medals and honor”, says Christopher Laska.

Owing to the agreement between the first and the seventh largest operators in the world, subscribers can now log on to the official website of the Olympic Games, through a WAP Push message, which will include a link to this webpage. The service will be charged according to the regular pricelist for GPRS services in roaming in China.

China Mobile also provides Telenor subscribers with an option of short-code dialing of the home customer service and voice mail, and a welcome message that Telenor subscribers receive upon entering the Chinese network will include useful information on the Olympic Games and services offered during the competition.

By using the SMS interworking service, Telenor subscribers now have the possibility to send text messages from their home network to Chinese subscribers.

In case of a loss of a SIM card, China Mobile will offer Telenor subscribers a free prepaid card they can use while in China. This service will be offered in six cities hosting the Olympics: Beijing, Shenyang, Tianjin, Qinhuangdao, Qingdao, and Shanghai.

China Mobile is the largest mobile phone operator in China, with a market share of approximately 67.5 percent, and the world's largest mobile phone operator by the number of subscribers – more than 380 million.
