“Professor Dr Ilija Stojanović” award granted

Telenor Foundation granted awards to best graduates of the Telecommunications Department at faculties in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš and authors of best scientific papers


December 15, 2012 – Telenor Foundation has granted the “Prof. dr Ilija Stojanović“ award to the best graduates of the Telecommunications Department, authors of best student papers presented at the TELFOR Conference 2012 and authors of the best scientific paper published in an international journal.


Awards have been granted at the official ceremony organised to celebrate the Day of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade. Awards have been granted by the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Prof. Branko Kovačević, PhD and Telenor Chief Technical Officer Ingeborg Ofsthus.


The best graduates in the school year 2011/2012 are Ana Anastasijević, a student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Nemanja Zdravković, a student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Niš and Vladimir Ostojić, a student at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad. As a reward for their success, Telenor Foundation granted EUR 1,000, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and unlimited Internet access for one year to each of them.

 

Three awarded student papers presented at the TELFOR conference are: “A practical realisation of kNN indoor positioning model for GSM” by Ana Anastasijević, “An approach to smile detection” by Jovana Malešević and Jovana Jojić and “Efficiency Analysis of one Class of Uniform Linear Phase Filter Banks” by Radoslav Pantić, a student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade. 

 

The award for the best scientific paper published in an international journal was granted to Miloš Borenović, Aleksandar Nešković and Đurađ Budimir for their “Space Partitioning Strategies for Indoor Wlan Positioning with Cascade–connected ANN Structures“ and “Multi-system-multi-operator localization in PLMN using neural networks“.

 

“Telenor Foundation has always supported successful students, especially in the telecommunications field, guided by the wish to help them continue with their scientific and creative work and demonstrate at the same time that effort, dedication and knowledge are always recognised. We hope that these awards will encourage young people to remain in Serbia, keep pace with modern technologies and implement them to their benefit,“ said Telenor Chief Technical Officer Ingeborg Ofsthus


Telenor Foundation established the “Prof. dr Ilija Stojanović“ award in 2007, to commemorate the memory of academic Prof. Ilija Stojanović, PhD, who has also made significant contribution to development of Telenor company. He was a pioneer in the field of modern telecommunications on the territory of former Yugoslavia and current Serbian territory and a founder of the Telecommunications Department with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade.
