Proclaimed winners of Telenor competition for the best idea
Petar Korda and Aleksandar Marinković representing Serbia at Telenor Youth Summit in Oslo
October 8, 2013 – Students Petar Korda from Belgrade and Aleksandar Marinković from Niš are the winners of Telenor Competition for the Best Idea and will represent Serbia at the first “Telenor Youth Summit” in Oslo, as well as many events within the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony. Their ideas, in a form of video works, were selected as the best solutions on the topic of possibilities of using mobile technologies in resolving social challenges.
Petar’s video “Recycling” shows the way in which citizens can be encouraged to recycle, whereas Aleksandar’s work “Niš 2.0” deals with promotion of the work of state institutions via Internet.
“I am glad that we will have representatives of Serbia in Oslo and that we can help their ideas reach wider public. Youth and their education are key areas in which Telenor is investing and represent our guide for the future”, said Ivana Matijević, Foreign Affairs Manager in Telenor.
The “Youth Summit”, which will be held from December 9 to 11, is a new global initiative of Telenor Group, conceived as a place for exchanging opinions on ways in which mobile communication technologies stimulate growth and change the society. The host of the “Youth Summit” will be Jon Fredrik Baksaas, CEO of Telenor Group, which is at the same time the sponsor of Nobel Peace Centre.
On this occasion, Petar Korda, one of the authors of the winning idea and student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, said: “I am very interested in mobile applications and technologies and I chose recycling as the subject for the competition having in mind environmental protection, with an idea how to raise the awareness levels of the future generation on its importance for all of us”.
During the Summit, young people from 13 countries of Telenor operations, together will develop ideas to be presented to the Nobel Peace Centre, as well as at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Winners of competitions from all countries of the world will also attend the Concert organised on the occasion of the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize, CNN interview with this year’s laureate and exhibition at the Nobel Peace Centre.
