OCS and Telenor organised socialising event with olympic athletes

March 29, 2012 –  The Olympic Committee of Serbia and Telenor, the general sponsor of the Olympic Team of Serbia, have organised the first in a range of socialising events where Olympic athletes who will represent our country at the Games in London, meet with journalists.

Waterpolo players Slobodan Soro and Milan Aleksić, national archery team members Ivana Maksimović and Zorana Arunović, rowers Goran Jagar, Radoje Đerić, Miloš Vasić and Miljan Vuković, kayaker Marko Tomićević, and taekwondo athlete Dragana Gladović, presented their plans, preparations and competitions before the Olympic Games, as well as topics not exclusively related to sports. Head of the Mission for London, Branislav Jevtić, conveyed key conclusions and information about the current situation in the Olympic Team.

President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, Vlade Divac, and Secretary General of the OCS, Đorđe Višacki, as well as Telenor CEO, Kjell Morten Johnsen, attended the event.

“The Olympic Team of Serbia has 56 qualified athletes at the moment, plus 6 tennis players who will certainly participate in the Games, based on the participation simulation and ranking on the ATP and WTA list. In the remaining three months before the Games, those who still have to qualify for a “passport” for London, still have a range of competitions ahead of them. If all three teams that have a chance to qualify for the Games succeed in that effort, namely the national handball team and the men’s and women’s volleyball teams, the Serbian Olympic Team will include more than 100 athletes,” said Branislav Jevtić, Head of the Mission for London.

Socialising of the Olympic athletes and journalists is another joint campaign of the Olympic Committee of Serbia and Telenor, aimed at additional support for and promotion of athletes in the public, as well as creating a positive atmosphere and team spirit ahead of the biggest sports competition.
