In the Month of Giving, Telenor Launches Fixed Phone Recycling Campaign
Discount of up to RSD 1,500 for all who join the campaign
December 6, 2007 - By launching a campaign for recycling fixed phones, Telenor is introducing to the Serbian telecommunications market the standards of usage of mobile telephony that exist worldwide. This campaign is based on data that increasingly more users in Serbia are using exclusively mobile phones and that they need fixed-line telephones increasingly less.
The obvious advantages of mobile telephony – from the diversity and availability of services to advanced mobile handset features – also includes the fact that the voice rate per minute within mobile network is up to several times lower than calls from fixed-line to mobile.
The use of mobile phones in Serbia is on the rise. According to the National Telecommunications Agency, in early 2007 more than 88% of the population i.e. 6.6 million users had mobile phones, and this number is growing. Numerous forms of communication, from voice to SMS and MMS, and various services – from utilities, such as pay-by-phone parking or Internet hours, to complex business services such as mobile mail, and entertainment, such as downloading entire songs and music videos – have become an irreplaceable part of everyday lives for more than 2.8 million Telenor users.
By bringing a fixed phone to one of the Telenor shops the members of the public will get a discount of up to RSD 1,500 against the price of one of the 28 models from Telenor’s offer of mobile handsets, with a subscription to the tariff plan of their choice.
The recycling of mobile handsets is a continuation of Telenor’s successful mobile handset recycling campaign, which started in May 2007. More than 60,000 mobile phones, i.e. 5 tons of material, have been collected so far, and 90% of it can be reused. This campaign is being carried out in cooperation with the Eko Metal company, which collects and processes waste material.
