Free-of-charge Telenor internet park in Leskovac
August 2, 2013 – Due to the cooperation between Telenor and the City of Leskovac, visitors of the Central Public Park can surf the Internet, read e-mails, communicate, get informed and have fun outdoors free-of-charge in the next two years.
“I am happy that Leskovac has joined the cities in Serbia which have Telenor Internet Parks. By doing this, we will improve IT literacy and make the Internet available to a growing number of people. Around the world, the Internet parks have existed for years and are useful not only to residents but also to tourists, as they allow them to find information about the country and town they are visiting in a fast and simple way. Therefore, I expect Telenor Internet Park in Leskovac downtown to contribute to better experience of tourists, who will visit us at the end of the month for the traditional barbeque festival,” said Leskovac Mayor Dr Goran Cvetanović.
Park visitors can use their smartphones, tablets, computers and other devices to access an open Wi-Fi network (SSID: Telenor Internet Park) connected to the Internet via Telenor Smart Network.
“In cooperation with the local self-government, we have provided visitors of the Central Public Park with simple and fast Internet access, and enabled Leskovac to follow the latest global trends. When we opened the first park six years ago, public reactions were exceptionally positive and since then we have been opening them across Serbia almost every year. I am particularly glad as this is the first time that both the residents of Leskovac and tourists can surf for free in the Central Public Park,” said Sandra Štajner, Chief Communications and Human Resource Officer.
In the future Telenor plans to donate Internet parks to citizens of Sremska Mitrovica, Kragujevac, Subotica, Niš and Kikinda. Resulting from the extension of the cooperation with the City of Belgrade, nine city parks will be Telenor Internet parks in the next two years.
