Half of Mobile Data Traffic Goes through Telenor Network
In 2017, Telenor will invest an additional 30 million euros in further development of network in Serbia, while in the first half of the year it will cover 80 percent of the population with 4G network.
During 2016, the use of mobile data significantly grew, while more than 50 percent of mobile data traffic went through Telenor’s network.
The penetration of mobile phones in Serbia is 129 percent, which means that today everybody has a mobile device. About 20 percent of customers in Serbia use 4G phones, and further education is required to take advantage of the full potential of the technology.
In August last year, Telenor tested the 5G network and reached data transfer speed of one gigabit. This year, Telenor will remain focused on the development of its 4G network in all towns with more than 3,500 inhabitants, while the Telenor network is ready for the next generation of advanced technology and customer services.
Over the past two years, 70 million euros has been invested in the development of the 3G network, which covers the entire Serbian population, as well as in the beginning of the development of the 4G network with the aim to make the technology available to everyone.
