data transfer rates in 2G network. At this moment, Telenor GSM network covers almost 90% of the territory and 95% of population in Serbia. See coverage map
EDGE (Enhanced Data for GSM Evolution)
EDGE represents advanced 2G network. It provides much greater throughput band and quicker transmission of data and larger capacities for mobile users. This service has been in commercial use since November 2004. At the end of renovation, the whole 2G network will support EDGE technology. See coverage map
Maximum theoretic data transfer speed is over three times higher compared to GPRS and reaches 384 kbps on downlink and 88 kbps on uplink. Real throughputs of some 100 kbps on downlink and cca. 40 kbps on uplink provide basic Internet services, web browsing, e-mail and use of new applications.
