It is a pleasure to inform you that Telenor Srbija has launched its START Summer Internship program – a new type of internship intended for students of final years of undergraduate or master studies from all Serbian universities, as well as for bachelors without work experience. This one-year internship at Telenor is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain their first practical work experience and widen their horizons. Furthermore, they will work with their mentors in carefully selected trainings in order to learn the skills that are crucial to thrive in the business world. After the START Summer Internship ends, four trainees will get the opportunity to continue their professional development within the one-year senior internship at Telenor. The competition is open until June 7, 2015, on the START Summer Internship at Telenor website.
We are proud to have so many young and talented colleagues in our ranks, and we wish to introduce them to you. In this edition of Telenor Good News you will get to know Korina Skumpija. She started as a salesperson in her native town of Vršac; today, as the Regional Sales Manager in one of the six Serbian regions, she does her best alongside fifty colleagues working in nine Telenor stores to satisfy all customer needs and provide them with a unique customer experience at the point of sale.

Telenor START Summer Internship
Telenor Serbia has launched its START Summer Internship program – a new type of internship intended for students of final years of undergraduate or master studies from all Serbian universities, as well as for bachelors without work experience. This one-year internship at Telenor is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain their first practical work experience and widen their horizons. Furthermore, they will work with their mentors in carefully selected trainings in order to learn the skills that are crucial to thrive in the business world. After the START Summer Internship ends, four trainees will get the opportunity to continue their professional development within the one-year senior internship at Telenor.
Topic and areas of interest
The main topic the students will focus on during their one-month internship is the way in which digitalization affects social changes. Assigned across different teams, they will acquire specific knowledge and, when their internship is completed, they will get the opportunity to present their projects.
Benefits of the internship
During their internship, the students will developmany skills that are crucial in the professional context: they will undergo organized training in various domains (project management, team work, presentation skills, etc.) and work with their mentors – our colleagues – whose dedication and potential have been recognized within the company. The students whose performance is assessed as the best by the members of the project teams will have the opportunity to continue their professional development at Telenor within the senior internship model.

Within their application, they are required to make a short video (up to 3 minutes) on the topic of The World Goes Digital, upload it on a file hosting server, and send the link to the video in the body of the email. The competition is open until June 7, 2015.
Working with Telenor from the perspective of the Regional Sales Manager
Korina Skumpija is a Regional Sales Manager within the Marketing Division in one of the six regions in Serbia. She started her career in Telenor eight and a half years ago, as a salesperson in her home town. “My job involves looking after and developing fifty employees. Together we run nine stores and attend to customers, aiming to provide them with the best possible customer experience,” Korina says.
Developing Leaders Day by AIESEC: Knowledge and Skills for Future Generations of Managers
As a longstanding partner of AIESEC, Telenor actively supported the Developing Leaders Day by having ten Telenor managers, together with their colleagues from the Coca Cola Company, participate in a unique students’ development conference held on May 7-8 on Borsko Lake.
The Developing Leaders Day is organized by AIESEC, the largest student organization in the world. This year, Telenor and Coca Cola managers walked the 250 attending delegates through real-life case studies from everyday business. The aim of the workshop was for the participants, divided in groups of 20-30 students, to boost their leadership skills through practical training and interactive activities, gain new knowledge, and exchange advice with employees of the leading companies in Serbia about how to be successful in what they do.
The many activities conducted in the course of the one-day workshop are best described by one of the participants: “I love how many things I learned in one day. It made me think about my future career more clearly”. Namely, the managers from Telenor and Coca Cola in the role of mentors helped the participants to resolve real-life business case studies, while during the round tables the students had the opportunity to ask questions about anything they found interesting. During the dialogue between the managers and the delegates of AIESEC, the students wanted to know a great deal – what is the internship at the company like, what are the challenges the managers face on daily basis, and even what was the personal career development of the mentors like. “I liked devotion of managers, communication they had toward us, and also the advices they gave us“
In the course of the conference the students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the activities of the first online bank in Serbia. Like every year before, this year’s instalment of the Developing Leaders Day ended with the presenting of symbolic “leading success” medals awarded by the students to the managers, as a token of gratitude for the time they invested and their willingness to share their professional knowledge and expert skills.
AIESEC is a global platform that enables young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. An independent and non-profit organization, it is headed by students and young graduates of higher education institutions. The interests of the members focus on global issues and areas of leadership and management. Since its inception, more than 1,000,000 young people had the opportunity to participate in AIESEC projects and improve their knowledge and talents. The influence of the organization is best represented by the alumni of the organization, among who is Martti Ahtisaari, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.
