Telenor Foundation Educated 4,000 Elementary School Students on Good Behaviour on Internet
March 2016 - Telenor Foundation organised an event entitled “Cyber Dictionary” for 4,000 elementary school students in order to educate them on safe behaviour on the Internet. Music-scenic event was organised in partnership with the company Huawei and support of the Ministry for Education, Science and Technological Development, Ministry of the Interior and UNICEF.
With music and jokes, many stars from the world of music, TV and sports, including Ajs Nigrutin and young YouTube stars “Yasserstain”, introduced the fifth and sixth graders from Belgrade elementary schools to ways how to be safe online. Think before you post, don’t believe in everything that’s written, was the main motto and song of the event, with the singer Sara Jovanović and actor Bojan Ivković as moderators. Together with other participants, they told children about “liking”, “emoticons” and other terms from the Cyber Dictionary intended for the youngest users of social networks.
“As a telecommunications company we enable millions of people to be connected and feel the obligation to make our services safe, especially when it comes to our youngest ones. Having in mind the fact that our society is deeply involved in the digitalisation process, we believe that the issue of children protection on the Internet is an important social issue that requires engagement and systemic approach. That’s why we are organising such an educational program, that represent another in a series of ways we can contribute to the safe online environment”, said Ingeborg Øfsthus, CEO of Telenor Serbia.
Many celebrities, among which are Zoran Kesić, Marčelo, Leontina, as well as actors, Aleksandar Radojičić and Nikola Rakočević and sports stars Milica Mandic and Zivko Gocic, addressed the youngest in video messages, telling them that it’s important to be careful and observe the rules on the Internet.
