Satellite Roaming

Telenor enables its customers the ability to rent Thuraya Hughes satellite handsets for travelling to territories with no GSM network signal present. Coverage is supplied throuh a Commercial Agreement between Telenor and Thuraya SAT. With this cooperation global coverage is available on mountains and over seas and deserts.

 
In order to use this service a customer must have:

 
Thuraya satellite handset and 
Telenor SIM card

 
Our customers can use a Thuraya Satellite handset by renting one through Telenor (for more information please refer here), but also through Thuraya where more information can be gathered on the Internet at this address:  www.thuraya.com.

To initialize a call turn the handset on. This should automatically enforce the phone to start searching for a GSM network coverage signal. When this happens a call should be made the usual way (as with any other GSM operator). However, if there is no GSM coverage in that particular area a call should be made via satellite.
